We have chosen Charters Towers; Mount Isa; Thursday Island; Charleville and Cape York (Weipa) hospitals in Queensland but have not contacted them until all their boxes are packed and the money raised.
For now we have to raise 430 more teddy bears for 47 Ambulance stations in Central West and Northern NSW for trauma teddies. These are needed by September 20 to go out. We have no final tally as yet to how many police stations there will be but estimate around 120. We need 15,000 teddy bears a year for trauma teds, plus our trauma kids at the refuge in regional NSW as well as for our preemies and stillborn babies packs.
Teddy bears can be bought at the Reject Shop for as little as $3.00 each. Sometimes it is cheaper to buy than to make these things and less time consuming.
Due to the lack of money and the fact we cannot get govt grants or help from big corporations and businesses; we can only deliver to Northern and small rural towns (for free via Cowra Freight) for now. We do have a few avenues to go through who might help us out but will take a lot of paperwork and dedication on my part as well as bravery.
In roughly 2-3 weeks, Mr Spudleys of Cowra will be holding a Teddy Bear Run to get publicity for our cause by asking the community to donate a bear to our cause. All you have to do if in Cowra (NSW) is to come into the shop and say hi to Neil and his lovely wife and donate a teddy or so. Carebears are very welcome! Btw, Marijana makes absolutely gorgeous fruity health shakes and delicious coffee if you stop by!
