~ 100mg Johnson & Johnson Baby Powder ~ Disposable Baby Nappies (all sizes from newborn to pullups for all ages per kids) ~ Heirloom fruit, vegetables, hers, spices seeds for 47 communities to grow their own food. Hello Beautiful Guardian Angels of our Bush Babies & Kids. As you can see below, I have been Christmas shopping for our orphans for next year's Christmas whilst they still have very inexpensive, high quality gifts around this year. We don't expect anyone to buy any at all, it's just that I only have one present to buy this year for my brother as the rest of my family are dead. It just cheers me up being able to do something I love for kids who have nothing. Boxes will be going to the Territory in April and September next year for the baby sets to remote clinics, Careflight, The Aboriginal Women's Hospital as well as the orphans and foster kids clothing, Christmas presents; bras for the community teens and women. Heirloom seeds for the 47 communities to grow their own food will go out every 6-8 weeks. Our Postcards for Love Project is now finished permanently. Meanwhile, I will be bagging up hundreds of baby sets for miscarried (under 1lb / 22 weeks and under); stillborns (all sizes); preemies (all sizes - small, medium, large) and newborns. We do newborns for many reasons - emergency deliveries where mum hasn't had a chance to grab clothes etc for the baby. Babies that come into Dubbo in a RFDS plane and is literally born on the runway whilst dad is traveling by car 6-10+ hours behind with luggage. Also cases where the family are living out of a car; the very poor families; teens who have nothing. Newborns for the babies born in extremely remote areas where buying baby clothes is impossible or a 1-5 day trip to get to an expensive shop. Packs will go to Westmead Hospital NSW, Careflight NSW / NT; Young and Dubbo Hospitals NSW; remote sheep and cattle etc farms in NT; remote clinics (NT, Tiwi and Torres Strait Islands in Gove Peninsula); Catholic Care NT (260 orphans and foster kids); Battered women and children's refuges (NT). Photos will be coming within the next week or two of packs made up. We are trying to source the best place to buy 50gm, 100gm bottles of Johnson & Johnson Baby Powder as the company refuses to donate any. If anyone knows of a better organic brand (NOT Home brand) then please let us know. (Maree) LETTER FROM CATHOLIC CARE NT (Edited)
Ralph is one of our workers in remote communities in Wadeye, Pulumpa, Pepinarti, and Daly river. As the wet season has commenced Ralph is assisting to get Christmas gifts out to as many locations and children as we possibly can. We have just completed delivery to – Pigeon hole – 500kms, Lingara – 468 kms and Yarralin 438kms from Katherine one way. All children on each community received a Christmas gift and the shire managers will be dropping them off at church service on community on our behalf. Outback Baby Project staff (and supporters) have changed the lives for so many children in remote locations. God bless and kind regards Donna I am currently taking a week's 'break' of sorts until Friday 21st November whilst it is so hot.
In that time I will be finishing up all the unfinished items people often donate when they get frustrated with it; fixing up all the photos of donations on the website and adding October and November donations 2014. Plus financial donation details as well. Cowra Freight now accepts all forms of payments for donations into our freight account. When I restart next week, I will be continuously bagging up baby sets to go to Westmead, Young and Dubbo Hospitals; Careflight NSW and NT. Currently we are not accepting any donations except for a small few items listed below; until April 1, 2015. Please just hold onto them so we can use all the stock donated this year. I will also be bagging up hundreds of sets for very remote clinics in the Northern Territory; remote sheep and cattle farms where mothers are expecting babies. Some farmers have to drive inexcess of 9 hours to get to their front gate let alone wait for the RFDS to fly in. We accept the following donations non stop all year round including now. ~~ Johnson & Johnson Baby Powder (no home brand) 50gm, 100gm, 200gm ~~ Disposable nappies - any brand, any size - for our orphans. ~~ New combs and brushes for the kids and young mums. ~~ Financial donations to buy freight boxes and pay for freight. ~~ Brand new bought baby, kids, women's pyjamas (for expecting young and new mums at the remote Aboriginal Womens Hospital in NT). ~~ Hair accessories ~~ Careflight Bears (We pay $5.00 per Careflight Bear to be dry cleaned if not in its bag) ~~ Knitted, crocheted, sewn and or bought toys over 20cm tall for trauma toys. *****Please note we do NOT accept any bears made from the Red Cross pattern. EVERYTHING must be brand new with the exception of Careflight bears. We are very pleased and honoured to say that all 2o boxes to our 260 babies and kids across 47 very remote communities; are now on their way to Catholic Care NT to be distributed from remote areas around Katherine NT to the WA border; right through the Northern Territory up into the Tiwi, Bathurst & Melville Islands.
Our darling little babies and kids WILL have their very FIRST Christmas, their FIRST EVER Christmas presents and brand new disposable nappies to be comfortable in. The Wet Season is in full swing but the wonderful mail plane (and possibly Careflight and remote farms with helicopters) may be helping Santa with deliveries to those who may be cut off from swollen rivers. I would love to take this time to thank all our 30,000+ devoted supporters around Australia and overseas; who have stuck by us through all the tears, heartache, rants (on rare occasions), joys, and especially a HUGE thank you goes especially to the very heart of our charity - Therese Browne, Phil and Peggy Beer, Danny, Lincoln, Caroline, Sandra and every employee of Cowra Freight we have yet to meet. They are like an extended family to us and have always been there as a major ongoing sponsor. When we were gutted due to lack of money in the bank to send the boxes; Therese told us not to worry and that we could pay it off. She emailed a few truck companies begging them to help us and one has decided that they will take care of it for us. More news to come on the very wonderful company who opened their hearts to us to help our babies. We have had people email us abusive letters, multiple letters and even call us with a 2 hour lecture about NOT getting a DGR for tax deductions to go get government grants. Fact is, the govt has cut back around 90% of all grants; we don't need more than $10,000 a year anyway because whatever my self and my committee buy; we never claim it back on tax or our charity bank account, we throw away all dockets and never count the costs. An extremely wise person recently asked me this. If a man came to me and offered $100 for every child we help to feed them ON CONDITION that he could get it back on tax; would we get this DGR so he could donate? He says that if he can't he is withdrawing his offer and walking away and the kids can starve. What would I do? I would tell him to walk away because this man is willing for a child to starve so that he can get his money back on tax. he doesn't give it with love, he gives it with greed. That's why we will not EVER get a DGR and, since we explained this to people; money has been coming in to help us without expectation for it to be returned by tax. Now thats TRUE charity and love. (Maree) A MESSAGE FOR Bronwyn Barrett & her two children; Katherine Smail & the 4th Hoppers Crossing Brownies and Julie Duncan.
All the seeds that we have collected to date; have been handed to the elders on communities on the Tiwi, Melville & Bathurst Islands on the Top End AND have already been planted using the many garden shovels and rakes (small ones) that we have sent. All the seeds are already sprouting and will be ready to harvest in March when the rainy season ends. The Elders said to thank the children especially; very much for sending all the seeds as they are over joyed. For little children to love such communities so much and help them grow food so the people won't starve; is priceless to them. So! We will be collecting packets of seeds all year round with shovels and rakes, garden gloves and whatever else we can get that may help. No chemicals, fertilizers, tin sprays etc. (Maree) Here is a brilliant seed seller who is also on eBay. http://www.theseedcollection.com.au/vegetable Hello Guardian Angels,
Tomorrow I am sending out 10 boxes out of 21 to the Northern Territory. We have enough for 7 boxes only so I will personally pay the rest off out of my pension. I have also asked Cowra Freight if they would pay the rest ($2,000 approx) and I will set up a personal account to pay that $2,000 off over 5 months myself. Not sure if they will or not but I don't expect them to say yes at all. If those kids can't have their Christmas presents and decorations, nappies and everything else then I have let them down and will not celebrate Christmas what so ever as reparation for my mistakes. Those boxes WILL all be sent regardless! I thought I lived in a decent community but I was wrong about Cowra. That doesn't include Cowra Freight who are at the heart of our charity. If you know of anyone who wants to donate money for freight, please tell them all donations can be made by bankcard and visa by phone to Therese Browne at Cowra Freight on 0263 42 5719 for us. The NAB refuses to give us any more statements for 2 months now so we won't have a clue what will be in there and may over draw the account. The Wet Season began today..........We need a huge miracle ! We have one week to go before all our boxes have to be sent to the orphans and foster children in the Northern Territory. It will cost around $3,375 to $4,000 to deliver 25 tea-chest size boxes, maybe a little more or less depending on their weights.
Some of them MAY or may not have committee members hiding in them so they can see the faces of the children come Christmas Day when they open their gifts up. Hence some are more heavier than the rest. No names mentioned, HA! But seriously, we are down to literally praying for a miracle now to get that money as freight companies (excluding Cowra Freight), just don't feel the Christmas Spirit this year. We can understand why, truly we do but try explaining to 125 babies under 3 and 135 from 3 to age 12, that Santa may not be coming this year again. Their Mums and Dads and their big brothers and sisters never returned home to them and now Santa has done a runner too. The past 2 weeks has seen a massive jump of supporters offering help but sadly they don't have the means to help financially right now. However, we are absolutely over the moon and Jupiter with all the stunning photos we have received of donations, all hand made; that will be arriving after April 1, 2015 when our donations re-start coming in again. We have had some awesome (or as our Aboriginal friends say "Deadly") small Australian businesses put their hands up to help and or donate goods. We've had several very well known organizations "smack" us in the face with their cold heartedness and nastiness, rejection and jealousy whilst trying to get financial or merchandise donations. It's just made us more solid and it has backed up a few of our committee's stand on certain aspects of our charity. People want us to become a multi million dollar corporate charity with offices world wide and more or less glory for them to be a part of. We want our small humble charity to keep it's ethics and morals; work in humility and compassion to help fellow Aussies. Have one head office, no wages for committee members, and no DGR (for tax deductions per financial donations over $2). People say we are insane not to get a DGR but we believe that when you donate something to a charity, you give it freely without receiving anything back in return, even from the tax office. It is no longer a charitable gesture when you receive it back. That is one of our morals and standards and if people don't agree then they don't have to donate. Answer yourself this...... Can you stand there and say to me "I will give you $5,000 to help feed starving Australian babies, on condition I can get all my money back from tax". Does that mean that if you can't get it back on tax then you would allow those babies to die instead? Thats what it all boils down to! We totally LOVE these guys and girls!!!
"We are honoured by the support our brigade receives from the Australian Outback Baby Project. The Careflight Bears will be put to good use as Trauma Teddies and the hygiene packs are being distributed to our active firefighters." On behalf of The Australian Outback Baby Project Inc, I would like to personally thank Lowan Whole Foods Pty Ltd for their incredible donation of 17kgs of delicious cereal for our 260 orphans and foster kids in very remote areas of the Northern territory. Not only will it help warm their little tummies but it also warmed the hearts of all our committee and supporters too. Thank you to two wonderful women at Greens General Foods Pty Ltd who supported our request and helped in making it possible with Lowan Whole Foods Pty Ltd - Danielle Lewis (Consumer Relations Representative GREEN'S GENERAL FOODS) and Adele Mouawad (Consumer Relations Supervisor GREEN'S GENERAL FOODS) |
