We were called a 'premium' charity by many well known organizations that took 10+ years to get to the standard our charity got in a year.
However, all we received in financial donations was $25.00 in the bank and a donor for $200 worth of freight boxes. Our money box in Cowra yielded $3.25 in 6 weeks and had to be removed from the shop and soon placed else where.
We added a new donation tin to Deli Lama Cafe in main street Canowindra (NSW) owned by well known chef Tommy Jeffs. The second is with great Aussie nappy business Boobums who now takes it around to markets and uses it to purchase cloth nappies for us. The 3rd will go in the Sportsman's Cafe in the Coles complex in Cowra.
Our teddy bear party and all fundraising had to be cancelled as the Cowra Shire Council demanded we have $20m in product, public and accident liability insurance ($2,200+) per year. We had no money to buy it and felt that if we did, the $2200 would have been better just using it for what we needed anyway. A party may have barely raised $200 in Cowra as the only support we ever get here is from Cowra Freight.
Other money was promised to us but was never placed in our bank. We cannot take funds from our cheque account unless we have 2 signatures on the cheque book and every withdrawal accounted for and to date we have 3 co signers on there.
We have no EFT card, cannot upload to Paypal or withdrawal cash. So we can prove those people never put money into our account.
We are EXTREMELY proud of our charity for the fact that we never do raffle tickets; never sell peoples details to anyone; never contact people for money; never harass people into donating money. We tell people what we need and what isn't donated, all our team pay for the items out of our own pockets. We cannot claim it back on tax because our costs outweigh our financial donations. So we donate the items ourselves and rip up the dockets.
Have a very Happy, safe and healthy New Year! We have already hit th
